Kumamoto University International Symposium on Corpus and English Education: Exploring the Interface between Corpus Research and English Education
 
The purpose of the symposium is to explore the interface between corpus research and English education to apply corpus linguistics to the development of English education (particularly university English education) and ESP/EAP teaching in Japan because it is becoming more important for Japanese students to develop effective academic writing and presentation skills in each discipline.
 
We are to invite to the symposium Dr. Ute Romer who has played a central role in the development of academic English corpora, such as MICASE (the Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English) and MICUSP (the Michigan Corpus of Upper-level Student Papers) at the English Language Institute, University of Michigan.
